Democratic activists for months have been putting pressure on the new Obama administration to move forward with eliminating the taint of politics from the U.S. Justice Department, corrupted beyond measure during the Bush years.

Sources now tell the Locust Fork News-Journal that some concrete steps are being taken to clean house, but that President Barack Obama is holding off on appointing new U.S. attorneys in Alabama until all his other cabinet officers are confirmed by the U.S. Senate.

Rove's Answers to Siegelman Prosecution Questions Posted On His Website

Karl Rove has not yet been deposed by the House Judiciary Committee concerning his role in the firings of nine U.S. Attorneys and the alleged political prosecution of former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman, but that hasn’t stopped the former White House political adviser from trying to get ahead of the panel’s queries pertaining to Siegleman.

Two weeks ago, in a little known interview on Fox News, where Rove is a contributor, Rove told Chris Wallace that he has already responded to questions about Siegelman’s prosecution and has posted his answers to written questions on his website, Rove.com.

“My understanding is I am going to be questioned both about the U.S. attorneys [dismissals] and about the allegations that I was responsible for the prosecution of Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman...a lot of these answers particularly with regard to Siegelman are already on my website,” Rove said in the March 8 interview.
